The Williamsport Civic Chorus provides one of the few opportunities
available to community members wishing to further their vocal skills.
The Williamsport Civic Chorus is proud of its reputation of providing fine
music to the community since 1944.
By electing to join the Chorus you are making a commitment to:
(1) continued personal growth throughout the choral season;
(2) know your music;
(3) seek musical assistance as needed;
(4) be prompt for rehearsals; and
(5) participate in all financial endeavors of the Chorus
Any problem with attendance or questions can be addressed by called your Section
Leader (see below)
To maintain our professional standard of performance you are expected
to attend ALL rehearsals. Should unusual circumstances demand
your absence from rehearsal, you should notify your section leader, director
or any board member. EXCESSIVE ABSENTEEISM (MORE THAN 2 REHEARSALS
PER CONCERT) MAY RESULT IN FORFEITING THE OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM IN THE
CONCERT.
Dues are $25.00 per year per member, payable in September. Dues will be prorated for members joining after the first concert at $10.00 per concert. For concert participation, dues must be paid prior to the performance. A discount is offered for families -- $40.00 per year dues for every two family members. Students may participate at a rate of $5.00 per concert.
As a member of the Chorus, you are asked to purchase music which is
not available through the Chorus library or other loan source. Chorus
members are financially responsible for music borrowed and not returned
to the Chorus. A $10.00 refundable deposit will be collected for
the music for each concert. For performances, all music must be contained
in a black folder (available from the chorus at a nominal cost).
DO NOT MARK ANY BORROWED MUSIC WITH UNERASEABLE MARKS. Please erase
all marks before returning music. SPECIAL NOTE: Purchase of Music is Encouraged.
Chorus members are responsible for concert dress. Women wear a longsleeved plain black dress which may be purchased for $57.00. Rental garments are available as well. The hem of the dress is to be 3 inches from the floor. (When measuring, be sure to wear the black shoes which will be worn during performances). For men, a black tuxedo is the preferred attire with a white shirt, black bow tie, and black shoes. A dark suit may be substituted for the tuxedo.
