Newsletter & Meeting Minutes

January 2001

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 13, at 7 PM, in the Winters Room of the James V. Brown Library, 19 East Fourth Street, Williamsport.

We will be having a "Show & Tell" session. Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite useful tips and tricks.

Our last meeting was opened shortly after 7 PM Tuesday, January 9 2001 by Vice-President Kathy Kolb. The minutes of the November 2000 meeting were approved. There was no treasurer's report due to John Yarosz's absence, but we had no expenses in the past two months.

Old Business:

• Jim was frustrated once again in his attempt to place a classified ad in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette when they apparently misplaced his fax, despite being told after his email was misplaced that faxes would be preferred.
• We would like to thank Streetmail, a free e-publication of OneMain.com for its users, for listing our meeting in their weekly event notices.
• Members are reminded that we have been offered a merchandise discount at Discount Computer Supply & Service in Berwick by owner Rod Dietz, and Jim is going to post it on the Club's home page.

New Business:

• We heard from a new attendee who was troubled with a local retailer's inability or unwillingness to create a system for her that would be compatible with her older scanner. We discussed several possible technical issues, but were unable to reach a conclusion as to the nature of the problem without specific information.
• We addressed envelopes for all local computer retailers listed in the telephone book. Kathy is going to send out Club promotional materials along with a request that they distribute them to interested parties.
• Kathy suggested the February meeting topic.
• We discussed ideas for future programs. Suggestions included MP3 players, Mac OS X, Palm Pilots, and web-enabled cell phones. If anyone would like to volunteer to demonstrate any of these products, or speak on any other computer-related topic, please contact us.
