Catmeister has been hibernatin', like cats like to do in the winter. Okay, I been sleepin' on the job, an occupation worthy of many a feline. Startin' to look like another famous cat, too; you know the lasagna-eatin' one!

That said, Catmeister is ashamed to be behind on web duties. Summer has been long over and it is only a blessing that this, for the most part, has been a fairly mild winter.

Even so, you furless folks need to remember the outside animals and the backyard feathered folk. They really need your help in the winter. Furry friends, even the loud barking ones that we cats aren't always fond of, need a dry spot out of the wind and cold and fresh water and food to sustain their bodies. Those yummy little feathered buddies of mine (ouch, not supposed to say that, am I?) could use fresh water, 'specially on frigid days, and bird goodies like seeds and suet. Not my bowl of tuna  but, hey, we can't all like the same thing, can we?

So, please remember the critters that aren't as fortunate as the old Catmeister. I have a nice, warm bed, plenty of food (if you'd see me, you'd know I wasn't kiddin'), and good friends like Buddy, the pot-bellied beagle. He used to be a LAPS drop-off (Shame on you, whoever did that!) but, since LAPS only houses great felines like the Catmeister, he came here to live. Nice guy, 'though a little on the slow side, probably due to his bum leg- but he sure moves fast when food is involved.

See ya soon!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!!!

If you have some time, LAPS could use your help. Good volunteers are always in short supply and the regular folks could really use some assistance. The kitties in residence are always grateful for love from new friends and will do their best to make you feel loved and needed.

Please come meet the shelter residents and let them know how much you care. They really love company and, who knows, maybe one of them could find a new home with you and show you just what you've been missing.

Keep Those Cans Coming!
Remember that LAPS recycles aluminum cans all year round

The money that is received from recycling aluminum cans adds needed dollars to the Shelter budget. Currently, like many other organizations, LAPS is feeling the pinch of the poor economy. Donations are down but expenses are not. Since LAPS receives no government funding, the organization depends on programs like recycling to help offset the loss of other contributions.

Please drop off your aluminum cans at the Shelter (3510 West 4th Street, Williamsport, PA) and help the animals who depend on the organization for their very lives. You may leave your cans (just aluminum- no steel) outside the Shelter doors if no one is at the Shelter when you arrive. If you want to set up a time to drop them off, please call 570-327-8707 and leave your name, phone number, and a time when you can be contacted.

If you have more than you are able to bring yourself, please call and we will arrange a time to pick them up from you (Williamsport area only, please).

PLEASE - send some pictures of your LAPS adoptee or

an article you have written about him or her.

LAPS would really enjoy hearing about your special friend. All you need to do is send an article or photo by email lapsshelter@alltel.net or snail mail and we will post it here so people can read all about your buddy.
