Adopt a New
Best Friend!
Lycoming Animal Protection Society, Inc. has many wonderful felines that would love to
have an opportunity to meet you and, hopefully, win their way into your heart and home.
All LAPS residents are given a physical at the veterinarian's office upon entry to the
shelter. They are also tested for feline leukemia, kept current on their vaccinations, and
spayed/neutered as well. If they are not old enough to be spayed/neutered before adoption,
the adopter is given a certificate to present to a participating veterinarian who will
perform the operation at no extra cost to the adopter when the kitten is of the proper
age.
LAPS wants to ensure that its residents never again have to worry about being homeless
so the organization has a very simple form that it asks potential adopters to complete and
sign. This form has some questions concerning the adopter's residence (own, rent, etc.) as
well as some basic questions about animal care and needs among others.

After this paperwork is completed and you select your new family member, L.A.P.S. asks
that you pay a small adoption fee and sign one last form that states you will provide a
home for the lifetime of the cat or will return the animal to the LAPS shelter if you are
unable to continue to provide a home and care for it.
Please contact the organization at 570-327-8707 to set up a time to visit the shelter
and meet your new best friend.

Jeanne Reed sent her LAPS success story for all to enjoy. Thanks, Jeanne!
(I guess we really need to thank Paul since he is the narrator of the tail.)
Paulie, now proudly known as Paul, was
a LAPS kitty.
Dear Old Friends at LAPS,
Its been a year and a half since I
left LAPS with the Reed family and I am loving every minute of it. I was a little nervous in my new surroundings but
that only lasted a few days. They made me feel
special with new toys and a cat tree of my very own.
My new family has a big house
with a basement, where my litter and food are kept, a first floor where I sleep and play
and sleep
and sleep, and an upstairs where my new family sleeps. I like to go up there really early in the morning
and wait for their alarm clock. As soon as it
buzzes, I meow and meow so they know Im hungry.
Actually Im hungry all the time.
I have a new bud, Jake. Hes HUGE the biggest cat
Ive ever seen. But hes funny
looking too. He has floppy ears, a wet nose,
and no litter box. He gets to go outside
sometimes and I watch him through the window. He
will stand and sniff, and wander around looking for his litter box. He never finds it though, just goes on the
ground
YUK! After he comes inside, we
both go to the kitchen and I meow (a lot), he wags his tail and we get treats!
I have found a great playtime
friend. His name is Aaron. He loves to play string, mouse, dice, army, race
cars, and has shown me the wonderful game of hockey. Aaron
lets me play goalie. I really like it when his
team scores and I have to fish the puck out of the hockey net. I also like to try and take the puck to other rooms
in the house.
My other friend is Luke but he went
away to college. They dont allow cats
there so I only see him on weekends.
I do have a few little quirks but my
family loves me anyway. If I get stressed my
eye gets irritated. Or the fact that I need
fiber in my food each day to keep me regular. Nobodys
perfect and the Reeds understand. Theyre
great.
My family keeps me updated with LAPS happenings
by reading the LAPS Newsletter each time it arrives. Keep
up the good work.
Sincerely,
Paulie Aka Paul (Reed)
