Northern Lycoming Christmas Bird Count, sponsored by Rose Valley and Mill Creek Watershed Assocations. Contact Dave Ferry if you are interested in helping.

Monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. "On the Right Track: Identifying and Interpreting Animal Tracks" and "Ask the Professor: H1N1 Flu and Bird Flu". Lycoming College's Dr. Mary Morrison will present.  
  Jan. 30

Not an Audubon event, but one worthy of your consideration: Winter bird walk at Montour Preserve, 10-11:30 a.m. Meet in Visitors Center. Jon D. Beam, Senior Naturalist, will lead the walk through fields and woodlands. Wear comfortable walking shoes, dress for the weather and bring binoculars and a field guide if you have them.

 
  Feb. 12-15 The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC). Plan to participate! More info.  
  Feb. 24 Monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. "The Eagle Experience". Mike Kuriga of Lycoming Audubon Society will bring his Bald Eagle "TJ".  
  March 6 Not an Audubon event, but one worthy of your consideration: Home Gardeners School in Mifflinburg (Union County), offered by Penn State Cooperative Extension. Registration is required.

Field Trip at PPL's Montour Preserve near Washingtonville - meet at the Environmental Center parking area at 2 p.m. EDT. Bring binoculars, bird guides, and if you have one, a scope. Lycoming Audubon's Wes Egli will lead this birding adventure looking for spring migrants. Dress for the weather.

 
  March 24 Monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. "Ridgetop IBAs (Important Bird Areas) and Wind Turbines". Kim Van Fleet, IBA Coordinator for Pennsylvania Audubon will present.  
  April 17 Field Trip at State Game Lands #252 near Allenwood- meet at the maintenance building at 9 a.m. EDT. Bring binoculars, bird guides, and if you have one, a scope. Lycoming Audubon's Wes Egli will lead this birding adventure looking for spring migrants. Dress for the weather and for walking in the Game Lands. Map from Google  
  April 28 Monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. "White Nose Syndrome on Bat Populations in Central Pennsylvania". Dr. Dee Ann Reeder, Assistant Professor of Biology at Bucknell University will discuss her research in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Game Commission.  
  May 8 North American Migration Count. If you are interested in participtating in Lycoming County and available for this entire Saturday, please contact Wes Egli or call (570) 584-3107.  
 

May 19

Annual Tureen Dinner, Membership Meeting and LAS Board elections, starting at 6 p.m. Doug Gross, Wildlife Biologist, Endangered Bird Specialist and Pennsylvania eBird Coordinator will discuss "The Recovery of Endangered Birds in Pennsylvania", with special emphasis on Bald Eagles.  
    Monthly meetings are at the Dining/Recreation Complex of Little League World Headquarters in South Williamsport (Turn north onto Fairmont Drive from Rt. 15 and look for parking area to the right [east])    
   The nearby Seven Mountains Audubon Society offers periodic field trips.    
  The Alpine Club of Williamsport offers periodic hikes and outings to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.
