  Jan. 23 Monthly Meeting with a new meeting time of 7 p.m. - Christy Bowersox, will present" "Songbirds to Waterfowl in Alaska's Interior". She is a recent Lycoming College graduate who formerly worked at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks. She will discuss her study of waterfowl and her experiences working for the Alaska Bird Observatory banding passerines.  
   Feb. 15-18 National Audubon and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology offer the Great Backyard Bird Count that YOU can participate in.

The West Branch Bird Club of the Lock Haven area is planning a carpool road trip to the Niagara Falls area. LAS members are invited. Target birds will be the wintering gulls and waterfowl for which the
Niagara area is known for, as well as Grosbeaks, Crossbills, Redpolls, and Bohemian Waxwings.

  Feb. 27 Monthly Meeting at 7 p.m. - William Lellis will present "Stranger than Fiction: The Link Between Freshwater Mussels and Fish in Eastern Rivers and Streams". Dr. Lellis is the Branch Chief of the USGS Leetown Science Center, Northern Appalachian Research Lab in Wellsboro. His research on freshwater mussels includes extensive field surveys on the Delaware River and lab studies on mussel behavior, reproduction, host identification, and artificial propagation.
 
 
  March 26 Monthly Meeting at 7 p.m. - Drs. Tom and Margaret Griffiths will present "Bats We Knew and Love, from Pennsylvania and Beyond". They have devoted decades to studying bats and both have served as Executive Director of the North American Symposium on Bat Research, the premier scientific organization dedicated to the study of bat biology. Margaret is the publisher and managing editor of Bat Research News.
 
 
  April 5 Field Trip to see waterfowl at Rose Valley Lake. Meet at the Williamsport Wegmans at 9 a.m. and carpool to the Lake or else meet at the Lake's southern boat launch at about 9:30 a.m. Early April is a prime time to watch migrant waterfowl; we could see loons, grebes, geese, and many species of duck and even migrant eagles. Return to Wegmans by about 1PM. In case the Lake is frozen, we will go to Montour Preserve. Contact Dave Ferry with any questions.
 
 
  April 19 Field Trip to Montgomery to look for our local Peregrine Falcons. Meet at 8:30 a.m in the southwest part of the Williamsport Wegmans parking lot and look for Mike Kuriga's grey and white 'FJ Cruiser'. Once arriving in Montgomery, birders will walk about one-half mile. Dress for the weather and bring binoculars and/or spotting scopes.
 
 
  April 23 Monthly Meeting at 7 p.m. Mario Giazzon, Wildlife Diversity Biologist for the Pennsylvania Game Commission's Northcentral Region, will present " Native Plants and Their Importance in Non-game Wildlife Habitat". He has previously worked for The Nature Conservancy and CREP Biologist for Natural Resources Conservation Service, and is a strong advocate of planting and raising native plants.

Annual Potluck Dinner and Fund Raiser (Book Sale & Silent Auction) at Pine St. Methodist Church in Williamsport. Lycoming Audubon Society's Dave Shollenberger will show a number of slides on African Wildlife.  
   The nearby Seven Mountains Audubon Society offers periodic field trips.
 
 
  The Alpine Club of Williamsport offers periodic hikes and outings to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.
