Opportunities To Help

Donations  Membership  Volunteering

The Lycoming County SPCA depends greatly on the help of individuals in the community. Without generous contributions of money and supplies, and the tireless efforts of our loyal volunteers, we would not be able to fulfill our mission.

DONATIONS

All donations to the Lycoming County SPCA are tax-deductible. If you are interested in donating stocks, or in making a bequest in your will, we would be happy to assist you. Just contact our Executive Director, Victoria Stryker, at 570-322-4646.

Other ways to patronize the SPCA financially are through attending the events we hold throughout the year, as well as making purchases in our gift shop at the shelter. In addition, each newsletter contains a "wish list" of items we are glad to receive as donations. For an up-to-date wish list and our fundraising events please see our News/Events page.

Becoming a member each year assures that the Lycoming County SPCA will have a steady stream of income to rely on, and demonstrates your commitment to humane care for homeless animals.

MEMBERSHIP

The Lycoming County SPCA is a membership organization, as established in its bylaws 125 years ago. We request that our friends demonstrate their commitment to our work for needy animals by becoming a member. Memberships start as low as $35, and go as high as $500, for which you will receive a personalized brick in our memorial walk.

Your membership is important to us, because it gives us a solid core of supporters we know we can count on. Please join now, and enlist your friends who are animal lovers to do the same.

VOLUNTEERING

Volunteers are welcome at the Lycoming County SPCA to perform a variety of tasks. Because of the sensitive nature of our work and the potential liability involved, the SPCA does not take volunteers under the age of 14. In addition, all volunteers must go through a screening process to determine suitability for tasks which are available. Potential volunteers fill out applications which are reviewed, and often an interview is conducted. All volunteers must attend an orientation, which is usually held three times a year. In addition, depending on the assigned job, more extensive training may be required. Depending on a volunteer's level of experience, jobs range from clerical to greeting and escorting visitors, to socializing and grooming animals. Every service performed by a volunteer is essential to the success of our programs.

If you are interested in becoming a Lycoming County SPCA volunteer, please stop by the shelter for an application.
