In Memoriam Earl R. Williams (1920-2008)We have received word of the passing of our dear friend and dedicated past officer and member, Earl R. Williams, on July 9, 2008. Earl recently celebrated his 69th anniversary as a clarinetist with the Band, and he had served for 27 years as the Band's Business Manager, as well as performing many other functions. Upon his first retirement as Business Manager, the Band presented him with an official proclamation on April 10, 1984 acknowledging his service and personal commitment to the Band. Earl had also been honored in November 1977 with a tribute in the Congressional Record. Earl served a key role in preserving the Repasz Band and making sure that the Band continued through the 1940s and 50s, earning the affectionate nickname of "Mr. Repasz." It is a tribute to him that the Band recently celebrated its 175th year of continuous existence. For more information on Earl's contributions to the Repasz Band, please click here.

Welcome
to the home page of the Repasz Band of Williamsport, Pennsylvania,
one of
the oldest community bands in the United
States . . . a continuous tradition since 1831.
We are thrilled to be able to share some of our illustrious history with
you. Please visit our site often and read about Daniel Repasz, the Band's history, one of the most popular marches of all time - the "Repasz Band March," and one of our most famous conductors, John Hazel, the "Wizard Cornetist." Mr. Hazel's virtuosity rivaled Jules Levy and Herbert Clarke according to newspaper accounts of his performances with the most famous bands of the early 1900s.
