EXHIBITION
A Page from Our History: Lycoming County in the 1930s
March 20 – December 31, 2007
As a participant in the project, The Big Read, the Taber
Museum presents this exhibit, which draws upon the book To Kill a
Mockingbird to establish its theme. With a goal to encourage and
rejuvenate an interest in reading, The Big Read project includes
programs and activities centered on this novel by Harper Lee. The other
participants in this cooperative endeavor are Pennsylvania College of
Technology, James Brown Library, the Community Arts Center, Lycoming
College, the Williamsport Symphony, and the Community Theatre League.
Programs include reading and discussion groups, a showing of the movie
To Kill a Mockingbird, a dramatic reading, and musical
performances. Although the novel takes place in a small town in
Alabama in the 1930s, this exhibit shows the common threads of small
town life all over America. Come check it out.
